Why start with piano

The instrument most students learn to build everything else on.

Piano is the best place for most students to start. It's easy for young students to feel successful right away, and it builds the reading and rhythm foundation that transfers to almost every other instrument.

We offer private lessons for ages 5 through adult, beginner through advanced — plus our popular Brighter Notes Piano Classes for kids ages 6–12. Whether your student wants to read music, play by ear, or learn their favorite pop songs, we'll build a plan around them.

If you're an adult coming back to piano after years away, you'll be surprised how quickly it comes back. In no time you'll be playing the music you love.

What lessons here are like

Music your student actually wants to play

A real studio with full-time staff — not a basement setup — built around the style of music your student loves.

We care about your musical interests

Loving the music you play is essential to a good lesson experience. Our teachers help you find and play the style you love — and help you discover a new one if you don't have a favorite yet.

Good technique starts here

Style matters, but so does technique. We make sure every student learns the "right" way, so they can be a successful pianist for life — not just through the next recital.

Real performance opportunities

Each May, students can perform in our Spring Formal recitals on acoustic and digital pianos — never a fee for parents to attend, and never required.

Common questions

Piano lessons: frequently asked questions

What will my student learn in piano lessons?+

Every student is different, so we tailor how and what we teach to their individual needs and goals. Your teacher will ask about favorite music and set goals together — we love beginners, so it's fine if you don't know where to start.

What styles of piano can I learn?+

All styles — classical or pop, and everything in between. We'll help you develop the skills to play whatever you want to play.

Who are your piano teachers?+

Highly-qualified instructors with warm personalities and a real passion for teaching, hand-picked from across the Treasure Valley. All teachers undergo professional background checks before working with students.

How long does it take to learn piano?+

There's no single answer, but with regular practice a basic level can be reached in a few months. Most students stay long-term because they enjoy consistently improving.

I don't have a musical background — can I still help my child practice?+

Yes. Your teacher can give you simple things to listen for, and you're welcome to sit in on lessons occasionally to see how a song should sound and how hands should be positioned.
